During game season we practice 4.5 hours. We practice three times a week for 1.5 hours based on the majority of the teams schedule and always before a game. During competition season the practice hours jump to 6 hours a week three practices for two hours.
What styles do you dance?
While we introduce our dancers to a wide scope of dance (jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, contemporary, pom, modern, ect.) we focus mainly on jazz/contemporary to adequately prepare for nationals in February and April.
How much does it cost to be on the team?
The Blackout Dance Team tries to keep dancnig fun and affordable, dance team members are responsible for costumes and hotel fees. This is usually between $250-300 paid throughout the entire dance team season. $300 is the absolute maximum it will cost, in past years it has been considerably less. While there is a payment plan, some dancers pay upfront and we do offer need/talent based scholarships

While we exist mainly to compete at the national/state level, the 2011-2012 season will be the Blackout Dance Team’s first year as a spirit squad for volleyball games.

We usually compete 4-6 times a year. Two of these being National Competitions and one Worlds competition if we qualify.
Do you fundraise?
While we haven’t done so in the past, we are working on fundraisers this year to alleviate the cost of competition fees and our possible Florida Nationals trip.
